FAQ:

What is the best way to wash my car?

Wash it yourself, do not put it through a car wash, especially one with brushes as these damage and scratch your paintwork.

Hose off all excess dirt and use a sponge with hot soapy water, making sure that the car is always wet where you are washing. Rinse off before it has dried. When you have finished the car, make sure to lightly towel dry it (with a soft towel) or chamois it off so as not to have water spots.

Do not rub hard at any stubborn marks or dirt as this will scratch the paintwork but soak stubborn spots that are hard to remove and this should help to lift it.

What product should I use to wash my car?

Just a normal car wash and wax product will work and generally having good soap suds improves the finish. However, even just hot water will work well, as long as you have hosed off excess dust and dirt.

How do I get rid of bird poo?

Get rid of it as soon as you notice it by soaking it with water and wiping off with a wet sponge. Do not try and wipe or rub it off while it is dry as this will damage the paintwork. Do not let it bake on in the sun, as this will etch into the paint and if left for too long, will be irreparable.

How do I protect my paintwork from fading?

If your car is a nice shiny red (this is normally the colour that fades) make sure you are able to garage it, if possible, and park it out of the sun as much as possible. Putting a polish on it twice a year will help prevent it from fading and keep it shiny and glossy.

If it is already quite faded, give Startech a call and we can get it back to its original showroom shine!

Do the scratch removal pens and colour fillers shown on TV work for removing scratches?

Generally, I would say what you see on TV will be a lot better than the results you would ever actually get. Also, they do not remove the scratch at all, it is normally just a mask or cover that will wash out. If you want a repair or restoration that is permanent, give Startech a call. In our experience, if the general public can do the job of a professional simply and easily, it is generally just a gimmick.

Will the scratches come back after Startech has removed them?

No. When the Startech system has been done in full, the scratches are permanently removed. The only way scratches will reappear is by new damage.

Will I really fail a warrant with yellowed/dull headlights?

Yes it is possible to fail a warrant. The reason for this is that yellowed/dull headlights do not allow a clear beam which is essential for safety. With the Startech process, we can restore almost every headlight back to its original clear state.

How long will it take to get my headlights restored?

Normally between 15-20 minutes.

How long will it take to restore my whole car’s paintwork?

This process is normally between 2-4 hours, depending on the size and condition of the vehicle.

Can I get a quote without Startech seeing my car?

You can, but it will not be as accurate as if one of our team inspects it first. It is much easier to assess the vehicle first to see what work is required and advise you of scratches which may or may not be able to be repaired.

Do you fix stone chips?

No as these cannot be buffed out and we do not carry any paint at all. We are just in the business of restoring the vehicle’s paintwork. If the car is full of stone chips, it is better to have it re-sprayed.
